The ‘Me, Myself and I’ box looks closely at the theme of identity. This means that it is not simply an art box, but also a useful tool for young adolescents to start
thinking about who they are and who they want to be. By studying the work of artists, the box also opens up ideas about diversity, empathy and connection.
It is truly unique in encouraging young people to start thinking about their varied emotions and how art can help them understand and express these more clearly.
The booklet included in the box is packed full of information and ideas, and is versatile enough that adolescents can either dip in and out as and when they
choose, or sit down for a full day of creativity!
‘Me, Myself and I’ includes lots of quality art materials (a set of acrylic paints, a paintbrush, a styrofoam sheet and sticky foam for printing, a set of skin-tone s
oft pastels, collage papers and a journal) and is packed full of projects exploring the complex theme of Identity and ‘who we are’, be that through portraiture,
our body or our varied emotions.
The LoLA box is separated into three sections:
• Portraiture, and how artists see behind our facial surface to depict something deeper than the mere outside appearance;
• The Body, proportions and how it is central to facets of identity such as gender, sexuality, race and ethnicity;
• And finally, Emotions and Expressionism, a style of art where the artist focuses on expressing their inner thoughts and feelings.
